It has many names and faces.

Almost every area that the Yangtze River covers has a name associated with it; but you could boil it down to “long river.” There are too many iterations to go through and they are too crazy to spell, just trust us on this one. The river is the third longest in the world, measuring 3,917 miles. But that's only part of why it's our #75 AbsoluteVisit. The sceneries along its bank are picturesque and magnificent. The waters served as the main transportation for the country for 200 years and were a big contributor to the world's rice production.

The Yangtze River, the largest river in China and third largest in the world, covers approximately 694, 983 square miles (1,800,000 square km), taking up 18.8% of all of the land in China and cutting through 11 different provinces and cities from East to West.
The Three Gorges Dam, the largest dam and hydro-electric power station in the world, is located on the Yangtze River and generates as much energy as 18 coal power plants.
The Yangtze River is often referred to as the dividing line between North and South China.
The Yangtze River Basin produces enough grain to supply one-half of Chinas entire population!
