It's an incredible journey to see, almost impossible to do.

You'll be tired, hungry and thirsty... but luckily you're not a wildebeest. Around October 2nd, a million mammals begin their migration from the northern hill of Tanzania to the southern plains of Kenya crossing the Mara River, a journey that spans across 12,000 sq. miles. It's no surprise that the name literally means "endless plains." This is the largest mammal migration in the world and many meet their deaths because of the harsh conditions. When the seasons change in the Serengeti, thousands of species such as wildebeest and zebra embark on a dangerous migration in search of green food and better living conditions.
The migration happens twice a year, in October and then again in April when the animals return.
It is a dangerous journey as it draws the attention of many predators. It is estimated that around 250,000 wildebeest alone die during the migration.
As the herds attempt to cross the Grumeti and Mara River, crocodiles await them, preying on the weak and the young that get separated or struggle in the strong currents.
