The Golden Gate Bridge is famous around the world for its rusted red spires that connect the Northern tip of the peninsula holding the city of San Francisco with the hills of Marin that the bridge seemingly disappears into. This bridge is iconic for many reasons - its history, its color, its classic beauty, and of course the city that surrounds it.

One of the most fantastic parts of the Golden Gate Bridge is that there are tons of ways to experience its beauty! • The Golden Gate Bridges stretches an impressive 1.7 miles (2.7 km) in San Francisco at what is called the Golden Gate, or entrance to the Pacific Ocean from the San Francisco Bay.
• The Golden Gate Bridge is not actually painted gold but a color called international orange. This color was chosen to blend well with the surrounding landscape.
• Every year approximately 40 million vehicles cross the Golden Gate Bridge.
• The Golden Gate Bridge was designed specifically to withstand up to 8.0 earthquakes and even 90 mph winds!
• During construction of the bridge, there was a net suspended below to protect workers that ended up saving 19 lives; those workers whose lives were saved were named part of the Halfway to Hell Club.
