Bigger than the entire state of Connecticut, Glacier Bay National Park is 3,280,198 acres across the state of Alaska, and even then it only takes up 1% of Alaska’s total mass!
The ice in Glacier Bay National Park is so thick that it has actually forced the Earths crust in that area deeper into the mantle. As a result, as the ice melts, the land in that area will rise over an inch a year.
Since their discovery, the glaciers in the National Park have been receding faster than any other glaciers in the world.
There are over 200 different species of fish swimming in the Glacier Bay National Park waters, including all 5 different species of Pacific salmon.
