By shows we mean oracles dedicated to Apollo, who used Pythia as his sibyl or priestess to speak through. The legend goes that when Apollo slew Python, its body produced intoxicating fumes that made her enter a trance and tell prophesies. Delphi in Athens, Greece is a place surrounded heavily by stories of ancient Greek legends and myths, particularly involving the Greek Gods.
In ancient times it was considered to be where heaven and earth collided, and where man could be closest to God. This is perhaps the reason there are so many myths involving Greek Gods at this site, and why the Oracle of Delphi was established.
The Oracle of Delphi is considered one of the most sacred places of the ancient world. It was where people could come and seek life advice from the Gods, interpreted and translated through a priestess named Pythia. In the beginning, the Oracle could only be consulted once a year, but later grew in popularity and use. The only time it wasnt used were the three months of the year when Apollo was thought to be away.
The most famous legend involving Delphi is that of Apollo, who slayed a massive python guarding the area and built a temple there.
