Quite literally, in fact, since it's located very close to the actual geographical center of Australia. The official name is actually Uluru, which is a lot easier to pronounce than the name of the local people of that area: Pitjantjatjara. The sandstone rock is 1,141 ft. high and covers 1.29 sq. miles of desert. It's what's left over from a huge sediment that formed a long time ago, but obviously not forgotten because it's our #95 AbsoluteVisit.
