It is a common misconception that Sorrento is included in the Amalfi Coast; some of the towns that are actually considered part of the Amalfi stretch include Positano, Vietri sul Mare, Amalfi, Ravello, and Pralano.
There is no train service to travel along the Amalfi Coast; the only ways to travel along the coast are by bus, boat, or renting a car.
Another common misconception abou the Amalfi Coast is that it is a beach (something we tend to equate with the word coast). The Amalfi Coast does in fact have some towns on the beach and waterfront, but it also includes towns up in high, rocky cliffs way above the beach.
Amalfi was one of the first places in Europe to ever make paper.
The 2004 film starring Scarlett Johansson and Helen Hunt, A Good Woman, was filmed in Amalfi.
