For me, my expectations were dead on. Stonehenge itself is nothing that spectacular to actually see. Although it does make for some “cool” pictures, it is really the history behind it that makes Stonehenge interesting. With radiocarbon dating, it is said that the first stone was erected sometime between 2400 and 2200 BCE. For context, this is roughly a couple hundred years after The Great Pyramid of Giza was finished! Regardless, although there are many theories, there are still many questions for Stonehenge. Where did the stones come from? How did they get there? What are they for? Who brought them to this site?
I do love the mystery of this site, but in general, the pure sight of Stonehenge was nothing special for me.
What did you think of Stonehenge? Did I miss something or did you have a similar experience?
