Photo of the Day – The Dark Side of The Edinburgh Castle – Edinburgh, UK

The Edinburgh Castle sits high above Edinburgh and has since the 12th Century. Yes, 900 years ago. The castle has that classic, this-is-what-a-castle-should-look-like feel to it. To me it is the epitome of what I envision a medieval castle to look like.

You may also think the castle looks somewhat familiar due to its influence on the Harry Potter series. J.K. Rowling did most of her writing of the series in Edinburgh and used many of the nearby historical buildings as influencing subjects in her writing. This of course came out even more clearly with the creation of the movie series.
