The Top 100 Places in the World...And So Much More
Blogs from: USA
Photo of the Day – Two Bridges One City – New York City, USAThere are 9 bridges that will take you into Manhattan, but here are 2 of the most famous. On the left is the Brooklyn Bridge and on the right, the Manhattan Bridge. Ironically they both take you to Brooklyn AND Manhattan. The Brooklyn Bridge park sits just between these two bridges and is not only a great place to bring a camera, but an awesome place to take in “the city” from outside of “the city”.
On that note, New York also serves as one of the most famous places to celebrate New Years Eve! So, have an awesome New Years Eve and may all your travel dreams come true in 2013!
Photo of the Day – A Chicago River Nightcap – Chicago, USAAlthough often referred to as the second city, there is certainly one thing Chicago can boast above New York City – the epic Chicago River. The Chicago River perfectly slices into Chicago’s mass of high-rises and provides incredible points of view to truly feel the size of some of the World’s best architecture.
This was one of my first ever HDR photos – probably my 3rd ever actually. I think it does a pretty good job of showing off the towering lights that you can be submersed in while wandering the streets of downtown Chicago.
Photo of the Day – A Golden Gate Kinda Morning – San Francisco, USAThe sun is burning bright from the East as the dawn of a new day begins. My girlfriend Anne and I woke up around 4AM to make sure we caught this epic sunrise over the Golden Gate Bridge. I know I must sound like a broken record by now, but I love sunrises! There is something so special to me about waking up with a sunrise especially when you can have one as beautiful as this.
It was a Monday morning when I took this photo and as much as Monday mornings suck while driving into work, I can’t think of a better path to be driving in on. With the sun coming up over San Francisco to your left and the Pacific Ocean gaining light from the new born sun on your right you would be thinking about anything but work.
Photo of the Day – Trailing into a Pacific Sunset – San Francisco, USAI took this picture just 8 days ago in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. In the dozens of times I have been to San Francisco, I had never been to this part of Marin County (North of San Francisco … across the GGB) … which makes me mad now! This place is absolutely unbelievable and is one of the best ways to experience the beauty and grandeur of the Golden Gate Bridge along with the San Francisco Bay area in general. I know what you’re thinking through … where is the Golden Gate Bridge!?
Well, my girlfriend Anne and I went up here on a chilly afternoon just in time to catch the Sunset and let’s just say that this might be one of the more boring pictures I captured. I am facing almost 180 degrees opposite of the Golden Gate Bridge. Almost dead-West for those of you that are not directionally challenged. If that doesn’t give you a feel for how incredible this place is … then I’m not sure what will!
Regardless, I love the little trail here as it leads you along the cliff and right into an amazing sunset.
Photo of the Day – Disappearing Lava Field Road – Kona, Hawaii, USAOn a quick trip to Kona this past summer, Brad and I stopped into the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park where we drove down to the coast line and through some tremendous lava fields. The tremendous part of them is that it is literally a field as far as the eye can see of … lava. I know that sounds silly, but as you can see in the picture, it makes you feel like you’re on another planet.
The road in this photo actually looks like it doesn’t fit … but, it was the only way to get there!
Photo of the Day – The Road to Half Dome – Yosemite National Park, USAThe road to Glacier Point was blocked as the park was absolutely jam-packed, but Brad and I figured out a way to “trick” the ranger into letting us down. It ended up working out incredibly for us as there was almost no one on what is usually a very busy road going to Glacier Point.
Glacier Point is just sweet. It sits atop the center of Yosemite valley and gives up awesome views all around. Specifically it has a close-up and personal view of Half-Dome. I took this shot when we hoped out of the car as we twisted our way down towards the Parking Lot for Glacier Point.
I must say having such an epic view in front of you before a hair-pin turn can’t be the most safe thing in the world!
Photo of the Day – Na Pali Coast Forever – Kauai, Hawaii, USANow that I have weathered Hurricane Sandy, this picture brings back even sweeter memories.
The Na Pali coast is one of the most beautiful coastlines I have ever seen. I named this Na Pali Coast Forever because it seems that the coastline literally goes … forever! I also love how the cost is forever changing in both formation and color. Until next time, I’ll be dreaming of you Na Pali.
Photo of the Day – Sneaky American Alligator – Everglades – Near Miami, USAMost people who visit Miami spend their days stretched out on the bikini-clad beaches and their nights soaking up the latest beats in the steamy clubs. Next time you make a visit, I highly recommend taking a break from the surreal South Beach scene to spend a few hours exploring one of America’s greatest wonders – the Florida Everglades. There is nothing like a high speed airboat ride across the expansive subtropical wetlands to cure you from the previous night’s sins. Here is a picture of an American Alligator that I took on my first tour of the Everglades back in 2009.
Photo of the Day – 100 Year Old Kilauea Lighthouse – Kauai, Hawaii, USAI headed to the incredible island of Kauai in the Hawaiian islands earlier this year with my girlfriend (Anne) and we were lucky to have fantastic weather pretty much every day – including this one. Lighthouses have always meant something to my girlfriend and I so we try to check them out wherever we go.
This lighthouse is special not only because of its beauty and history, but also because I’m posting it on Anne’s and my one-year dating anniversary. Happy Anniversary ku’uipo!
