Until next time, farewell Philippines
Well, as the saying goes, “everything good must come to an end.” Our time in the Philippines is now over and it’s time to say goodbye, but let’s change that to see you soon!
We had a thrilling 11 days in the Philippines which took us to Manila, Banaue, El Nido, and Boracay. I’m exhausted when I think back on it, but a smile always comes to my face with the incredible memories that were made. My only regret, not staying longer. There were many places on the trip that we could have easily stayed an extra day or two. Add to that several more islands that are now on my must see list and it seems like we could have, and perhaps should have, visited for a month! I will return.Continue Reading The Full Post >
The Banaue Rice Terraces, AV #33
A little over a week ago, we visited AbsoluteVisit #33, The Banaue Rice Terraces! This was our 7th AbsoluteVisit of the trip and was one that we had never seen before, but had always dreamed of. We were able to conquer the terraces of Banaue, Batad, and Hapao in an incredibly action-packed 48 hours that included two overnight buses, hours of hiking, and thousands of pictures. This crazy little trip to one of the world’s most beautiful places left Brad, Anne, and I astonished and equally exhausted!Continue Reading The Full Post >
AV Trip Photo – Last Seconds of Sunlight – Boracay, PhilippinesOne final sunset from Boracay! This place is incredible and has delivered three epic sunsets in three straight days! Can you tell I’m a little bit excited?
I snapped off this shot in the final seconds of sunlight. The rays of sun reached around the globe to illuminate the bellies of the clouds giving them an almost fictitious shade of pinkish-red. This is my favorite time of sunset (about 15 minutes after the actual sunset) – when is yours?
AV Trip Photo – Purple Haze Sunset – Boracay, PhilippinesBeaches are always wonderful for taking in the sunset, but there is something special about Boracay. I know it has only been two nights, but it has delivered two exceptional sunsets! Tonight’s sunset gave off this deep purple just after the sun ducked under the horizon. With a slew of palm trees in front of me, it was one of those surreal moments that you think is only captured in magazines.
Island Hopping in El Nido, Philippines
El Nido is an incredible piece of land located on the northern tip of the island and province of Palawan (check-out this map for a birds-eye view). I first heard about El Nido from our travel friends, Jenn and Jon, when they checked it out for over a week! Their pictures were stunning and I was instantly convinced that I had to see this place on my own. With a trip to the Philippines already on our itinerary to visit the AbsoluteVist, The Banaue Rice Terraces, adding this to our plans was a no-brainer.Continue Reading The Full Post >
Please meet my girlfriend, Anne
AbsoluteVisit meet Anne. Anne meet AbsoluteVisit. Many of you already know her, have seen her on my about page, or perhaps you have seen her witty comments on our Facebook page. Regardless, I am happy, proud, and excited to more formally introduce you to her as she will be joining us on the next part of our trip in the Philippines!
Anne and I met through … errr … Facebook. I know, I know – romantic, right? I had posted about a crazy trip which has you skydive over Everest (from 30,000 feet and land at base camp!) and she commented on it. We had met several years prior through a friend of a friend, but this single Facebook post was actually what brought us together. After a few Facebook messages came a series of long and in-depth phone calls. Suddenly it was decision time and we both wanted in. How could I not be attracted to such an incredibly sweet, sensitive, gorgeous, intelligent, and passionate woman? Blush.
