Photo of the Day – Stormy Jasper Valley – Jasper National Park, CanadaFirst, Merry Christmas everyone! I know that many of you will be spending time with your families today – enjoy every minute of it.
I took this photo this past summer while exploring Banff as well as Jasper National Park (right next to Banff) with my girlfriend Anne. On this day, the weather was not particularly great, but it did add some pretty epic weather sightings such as this one along the way.
I always find it interesting how much weather can play a roll in a trip, a photo, a memory, a moment. Sometimes rain can ruin a trip, sometimes it will make for the memory of a lifetime. Other times you’ll be begging for the sun to come out to cap off an epic sunset and other times you’ll be wishing it would hide to get you out of 100 degree heat. You just never know. Regardless, make the most of it!
Photo of the Day – Memories of Essaouira – Essaouira, MoroccoWhat do you think of this photo? Seriously, I am curious – tell me what you think!
I named this photo “Memories of Essaouira”. With the vignetting and the multiple layers of fishing boats, sea, birds, people, sea wall and city buildings, it gives me that sort of nostalgic feeling of a place. In this case, that place is the sea side city of Essaouira.
So, what kind of feeling does it give you?
Photo of the Day – Bamboo Boat on the Li River – Yangshuo, ChinaThe Li River has several ways of enjoying it, but one of the must do’s is to experience the Li River on a bamboo boat. And yes, I know that it is not really bamboo, but hey, its still pretty damn cool!
The karst landscape which makes the Li River an AbsoluteVisit never gets old as it is forever changing. And, wondering if your “bamboo” boat rigged with a lawn mower boat engine is going to make it up the river makes it all the more exciting!
Photo of the Day – A Golden Gate Kinda Morning – San Francisco, USAThe sun is burning bright from the East as the dawn of a new day begins. My girlfriend Anne and I woke up around 4AM to make sure we caught this epic sunrise over the Golden Gate Bridge. I know I must sound like a broken record by now, but I love sunrises! There is something so special to me about waking up with a sunrise especially when you can have one as beautiful as this.
It was a Monday morning when I took this photo and as much as Monday mornings suck while driving into work, I can’t think of a better path to be driving in on. With the sun coming up over San Francisco to your left and the Pacific Ocean gaining light from the new born sun on your right you would be thinking about anything but work.
Photo of the Day – Mythical Morning on Lake Moraine – Banff National Park, CanadaLake Moraine is my favorite lake in the world. It is a crystallized teal blue color, has the backdrop of the incredible Canadian Rockies, and has classic natural beauty of evergreen trees, rocks, snow and rocks.
I have only been to Lake Moraine once on a very early and chilly Summer morning in July this year and it is a place that I can’t wait to return to. I found true peace here as the natural beauty seems to take any negative thoughts or pain away. I really want to spend some time there and truly soak it all in.
Where is your peace place?
Photo of the Day – Tropical Island Exploration – Piton Mountains – St LuciaI spent Thanksgiving weekend this year with family on the beautiful island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean. On the first day of our trip we piled into a big van and spent the whole day driving down the western side of the island exploring all of the natural beauty this tropical paradise had to offer.
As we drove south along the coast, we stopped on a ridge with the perfect cutout view of the wondrous Piton Mountains. You’re actually able to climb the steep peak on the left, which I’m sure would yield some incredible views back up the island!
A big thanks to our tour guide “Danny Boy” for putting up with our family all day. We really enjoyed all of the local food that you bought for us every time something caught your eye that you knew we needed to try. The tour was top notch from start to finish and I highly recommend anyone looking for a tour of St. Lucia to check out – http://realstluciatours.com/. Yeah man.
Photo of the Day – Long Bay Point – Tortola Island, British Virgin IslandsThere are an endless number of condos in the Caribbean that offer beautiful peaceful views such as this one I captured on Tortola Island. What more could you want out of life than an unlimited supply of good, cheap rum and the cool ocean breeze?
Photo of the Day – Trailing into a Pacific Sunset – San Francisco, USAI took this picture just 8 days ago in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. In the dozens of times I have been to San Francisco, I had never been to this part of Marin County (North of San Francisco … across the GGB) … which makes me mad now! This place is absolutely unbelievable and is one of the best ways to experience the beauty and grandeur of the Golden Gate Bridge along with the San Francisco Bay area in general. I know what you’re thinking through … where is the Golden Gate Bridge!?
Well, my girlfriend Anne and I went up here on a chilly afternoon just in time to catch the Sunset and let’s just say that this might be one of the more boring pictures I captured. I am facing almost 180 degrees opposite of the Golden Gate Bridge. Almost dead-West for those of you that are not directionally challenged. If that doesn’t give you a feel for how incredible this place is … then I’m not sure what will!
Regardless, I love the little trail here as it leads you along the cliff and right into an amazing sunset.
