Here is a quick video I put together of the shaky footage I captured with my new whiskered friends.

Photo of the Day – Kicker Rock Sunset – Galapagos Islands, EcuadorHappy New Year! Hopefully your hangover is behind you and you are working on the all important New Year’s resolution list. Can I recommend placing a travel themed item at the very top?
Do you like animals? Do you like photography? If so, I highly recommend looking into taking a week off of work and making plans to visit the Galapagos Islands. Check out some of the amazing animals I was able to see on a typical one week cruise through the islands.
What’s holding you back from the trip of a lifetime?
Photo of the Day – Dragon Vision – Galapagos Islands, EcuadorWhile nobody books a vacation to the Galapagos to hang out with the pesty dragonflies, they sure are a lot of fun to try to take pictures of and a welcome break from photographing all of those other boring animals like penguins, seals, lizards, tortoises, iguanas and the endless number of colorful birds
Photo of the Day – A Single Swallow-tailed Gull Egg – Galapagos, EcuadorWe came across this beautiful Swallow-tailed Gull during one of our daily morning group walks we took on our tour of the Galapagos Islands earlier this year. The endemic seabird stood motionless above her single egg, allowing me plenty of time to get a great shot!
Photo of the Day – Isla Bartolome Boardwalk – Galapagos Islands, EcuadorBack in April I shared a sunset picture from the top of Isla Bartolome in the Galapagos Islands. The sunset was beautiful that night, the type that you would only see away from home on vacation.
Getting to the top of Isla Bartolome to capture that sunset required us to walk 45 minutes along this never ending boardwalk from where our dingy hit the dock all the way to the top of the island. This photo shows you the start of the boardwalk leading off into the distance with the point where I snapped the sunset picture sitting atop the boardwalk in the background.
Photo of the Day – Big Boobie Egg – Galapagos Islands, EcuadorOnly in the Galapagos can you get this close to an exotic tropical bird hovering inches above its incubating egg. Hopefully you are not getting bored of my Galapagos animal pictures yet (here, here, here and here). I’m going to keep working them in until someone following AV becomes convinced and books a trip to the Galapagos!
Photo of the Day – Darwin’s Yellow Finch – Galapagos Islands, EcuadorThe Galapagos Islands offer much more to look at than just sea lions, turtles and big exotic birds. Finches play a very large, albeit quiet role in the Galapagos. The diverse types of little finches spread over the island are not only beautiful to the eye but they are the foundation of Darwin’s theory of evolution. I spotted this colorful yellow finch hanging out on the beach watching the waves crash into the Galapagos sand.
Photo of the Day – Iguana Beach Sunset – Galapagos Islands, EcuadorI think this is the best photo that I have ever taken. It’s not my absolute favorite shot, but I think it is the highest quality image I have ever produced with a camera. Oddly enough it felt like just another one of the 12,000 photos I took in the Galapagos as I got ready to take it. There wasn’t some crazy scene unfolding in front of me. It was much simpler than that.
As the sun was setting along the beach, I found this beautiful Iguana relaxing by himself. I laid down on my stomach and spread my elbows out wide in order to get my camera lens basically laying on top of the sand. I looked through the lens barrel directly into his mysterious eyes and….click.
If you’ve been following our daily photos or you used to follow our old blog Quit And Travel, you’ve seen hundreds of photos that I’ve taken. Do you agree? Is this the best picture I have ever taken? If not, what is your favorite?
Photo of the Day – Sleeping Sea Lion – Galapagos Islands, EcuadorThe Galapagos Islands are one of the most fun places I have photographed around the world. There are beautiful animals everywhere your eyes focus and everyone coexists in such perfect harmony, including the tourists.
I found this sleepy sea lion relaxing on the sand while walking along a beach on the Galapagos Islands earlier this year. While he soaked up the hot afternoon rays, I laid out flat on the sand and captured some beautiful photos.
Photo of the Day – Pinnacle Rock Sunset – Isla Bartolome – Galapagos, EcuadorIf you think the animals are the only reason to book a trip to the Galapagos Islands, let this picture show you otherwise. The animals are certainly the main attraction of this famous archipelago located 500 miles off of the west coast of Ecuador, but the landscapes you encounter touring the islands are certainly worthy of a look on their own.
I took this picture of the sun setting behind Pinnacle Rock while touring the islands back in February this year. If you look off into the distance you can see a pair of boats floating on the ocean water just to the right of Pinnacle Rock. The 20 passenger boat on the left is what I cruised around on for the week.
