Photo of the Day – The Reclining Buddha – Wat Pho – Bangkok, ThailandThis is my favorite Buddha in the world! I’m not sure what it is about it, perhaps the size (15m tall and 43m long) or its incredible golden color. Definitely check this out when you are in Bangkok and let us know you think!
Where is your favorite Buddha?
Photo of the Day – Statue Guards of the Emerald Buddha – Bangkok, ThailandThese colorful statues stand guard at Bangkok’s Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). The status represent Thotsakhirithon (good luck saying that )and are everywhere in the palace as they guard Thailand’s most sacred temple. The intense colors and intricate details of these statues are what caught my eye. They are equally beautiful and mysterious.
Photo of the Day – Wat Rakang – The Bell Temple – Thailand, BangkokThe Bell Temple (Wat Rakan) is not the most famous Temple in Thailand or even in Bangkok, but its river side setting makes it one that is not only hard to miss if you cruise the Chao Phraya River, but is also worth a stop. The Bell Temple is a quinticential Thai Buddhist Temple which is aptly named for its Bell Tower.
Photo of the Day – Sunday Morning Thai Coffee – Bangkok, ThailandI need coffee! After returning from an outstanding day of photographing and touring Yosemite yesterday from 2AM to 1AM (almost made it 24 hours!), a coffee this morning is what I need.
I managed to sleep a continuous 10 hours; the kind of sleep where you feel like you just went to bed and didn’t wake up a single time in between … ahhh. But now, to get my motor running a coffee is in order. I almost always think back to my favorite coffee in the world which comes from Thailand. As soon as I think about it, I can almost taste its sweet creaminess and immediately wish I could quickly run out and buy some.
In today’s photo you see a coffee street stand with a Thai woman preparing an iced coffee. She uses an old can to mix the iced coffee ingredients by pouring in freshly made coffee and of course the secret ingredient, condensed milk. Oh how I wish I could get my hands on some of this right now!
