Photo of the Day – Alhambra From Afar – Granada, SpainIn order to understand the massive size of the Alhambra fortress, you have to climb to the top of the streets above Granada and look out above the ancient Islamic palaces. The intricate architectural detail found on the inside really blows you away when you are able to see the entire exterior structure in one single view.
Photo of the Day – Alhambra Courtyard Wall – Granada, SpainI love Moorish design and architecture. I think it is the most beautiful architecture and Alhambra stands as a true testament to some of the most classic and beautiful Moorish architecture of all time. Built in the 12th Century this once palace and fort is now a massive indoor/outdoor museum which I clearly fell in love with.
This wall in particular caught my eye as soon as we entered the simple, timeless and elegant courtyard. If and when you go here, please take the time to appreciate the incredible hand-carved wall that is in front of you. Breath-taking. On that note, I hope to follow this with several similar walls which I just got to see in Morocco. I’ll let you be the judge on which destination has the most beauty.
Photo of the Day – Archways of Alhambra – Granada, SpainAlhambra is AbsoluteVisit #30 and this pictures helps to show you why. Located in Granada, Spain, Alhambra was once the home to Arab rulers of the Emirate of Granada in the mid 14th Century.
This courtyard was particularly beautiful as the archways give way to a reflection pool that ends with this elaborate, elegant and detailed wall you see in the background of the photo. The tranquility of this particular space is still one that I remember although I was there 2 years ago.
