No, this is not a movie set or part of a museum, this train is actually sitting on the outskirts of the World’s Largest Salt Flat in Bolivia. The trains were originally used to haul salt from the flat into nearby towns and cities so that it could be distributed. In the 1940s, when the mining industry collapsed in the area, the trains were left in place. Today these rusted trains serve as a kind of snap shot of history and a pretty unique place to take photographs.
Where else in the world have you come upon massive objects that were left to ‘die’?
