Photo of the Day – Cactus of Incahuasi Island – Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

I have already posted a couple photos of Salar de Uyuni (here and here), but this time the photo comes from an ‘island’ in the middle of the Salar. This island is a strange growth somewhere in the middle of the Salar where there are rocks and tons of giant cactus!

Not only is it a cool place to check out, but it’s nice because it gives you a place to get a tiny bit of altitude to really understand just how big the Salar is. In the picture you’ll notice a mountain in the distance. Yes, a mountain that barely sticks out of the horizon. This should help give you some perspective of just how vast the Salar is.
