After a great time in Mendoza, just over the border from Santiago in Argentina, we certainly wanted to check-out the Chilean vineyards as well. Unfortunately due to the severe earthquake around Santiago in early 2010, we were unable to do Chilean wine justice, but did manage to get out to the Aquitania Vineyard just outside of Santiago. I remember the setting being a little strange as the winery was literally surrounded by suburban homes, shops and grocery stores. Other than that, the winery proved to be fairly average from what Brad and I saw. I do remember that they had pretty nice aging warehouse setup and they also hand labeled each of their bottles of wine!
This photo is nothing great, but I do like the composition of the photo as it draws your eye directly back to the winery along the dirt road. There is something about dirt roads, what is it? I also think the roses next to the vines are a nice touch. Unfortunately it looks like we ran into a fairly overcast day.
What wineries should we go to on our next trip to Chile? I’m certain there are better!
