Photo of the Day – Al Khazneh – The Treasury – Petra, Jordan

Al Khazneh – “The Treasury” – is the centerpiece of a historical and archaeological city located in southern Jordan. The city is famous for it’s rock cut architecture, which is so unbelievably wondrous that Will and I feel it is the 16th best place on the planet.

Take a good look at the beautiful facade of the treasury carved deep into the sandstone wall. How incredibly difficult would it be to build this today? The Nabataeans (ancient Jordanians) carved this masterpiece over 3,000 years ago! To put that in perspective, The Treasury was constructed before basically every single AbsoluteVisit 100 with the only exceptions being all of the sites in Egypt and the natural wonders that came before man. Incredible.
