The AbsoluteVisit Top 100 Places List

The AbsoluteVisit Top 100 List was created by - (drum roll) - us, Brad and Will! Through our travels, countless conversations with other travelers, and constant research, we have compiled what we believe to be the Top 100 Places in the World to visit.

Brad Harbach - "Go explore your world"

Hello my name is Brad. Why all of the traveling?
When I first saw the tall skyscrapers and eccentric lights of Tokyo, I suddenly realized I wasn’t in Ohio anymore. Leaving the place where I had grown up to finish my last two years of high school in a foreign city was eye opening. The world was suddenly bigger and different - I was on a journey to discover it. All of it.

After that, I kept on adding new countries and continents to my list of visits; every new travel enhanced my curiosity for more. What started as a love for travel became a passion.

Soon after meeting Will and finding my “travel-mate,” I was cruising at 30,000 ft. in the air on a flight from Miami to Lima to begin our journey around the world. Since then I’ve become the guy who has been “everywhere.” While I have yet to see “everything,” it is my mission to see as much of the world as possible. The more you discover, the more you actually uncover and want to explore. It’s a vicious cycle, which I am happy to be in.

What is your favorite city?
No, it’s not New York, or Sydney or Hong Kong… it’s Rio de Janeiro. The Cariocas (the locals), the beaches, and the energy in the streets during Carnival are contagious and unique to this city. It’s something you have to experience and it truly makes the city feel alive.

Why do you love the Great Wall of China so much?
Everybody knows about The Great Wall of China, but only once you get there and you are standing in front of 4,000 km of hand-built wall do you even start to comprehend the immensity of it. In 2010 I made the 10km trek across the wall from Jinshangling to Simatai. The weather wasn’t great, the company was so-so (I was with Will!), everything was against it being the #1 AbsoluteVisit, but it left an unforgettable impression on me. Its ancient wonder still sends chills down my spine.

Will Crowthers - "Travel is my passion"

Hello my name is Will. Why all of the traveling?
I’ve had my bags packed since I was a kid. I started with small journeys: from one parent’s house to another, then between family members, and then for family vacations. While I started ranking my miles on my first real vacations, I felt stuck in a “tourist bubble” of sandy beach resorts that only broke when I traveled to Amsterdam at 21.

There I saw the charm of a city that wasn’t mine but was home to a whole new culture, history and people. After that, my travels started getting longer and longer. I wanted each new destination to out-do the last. I embarked on new travels that, like a domino effect, left me craving more. I wanted to see everything. Brad and I decided to risk it all for our love of travel. A three-month leave to South America suddenly became a 10-month, 15-stop, around-the-world trip. We quit our jobs and 26 countries later - we were hooked. Now we’re always booking our next trip and on the quest to find the next AbsoluteVisit.

What is your favorite city?
Rio de Janeiro. It was a difficult question to answer, but I picked this city because it’s a 360° destination. It has everything you could ask for: beautiful landscapes, beaches, weather, culture, people, nightlife, festivals, and food. What more could you ask for?

Why do you love Angkor Wat so much?
Not only is it beautiful and packed full of history and culture, but there’s something magical about how the temple reflects in the waters at sunrise. It’s surrounded by other smaller temples and Siem Reap, the adjacent city, is full of exciting food, people and attractions.
